PEOPLE BUILDERS is not just a name for a church or an organisation – it’s also a description of “who we are” and it’s a description of “what we do”.
WHAT WE DO is determined by WHO WE ARE …on the inside.
The ‘culture’ of People Builders begins its formation by what’s developing inside us (who we are); which then flows out through our words, behaviour and actions (what we do) – and so as we gather together in community, culture is formed. It’s an outward expression of our DNA.
God builds His Kingdom relationally, so at People Builders, healthy relationships are very important. Both our relationship with God and our relationships with others.
People Builders are people who are very passionate about 2 things:
- loving God &
- loving people.
If we have the 1st thing (loving God) in right priority the second one (loving people) will happen naturally – and super naturally. Together this becomes a description of spiritual maturity – “growing in our love for God and growing in our love for people”.
So . . . Who is a People Builder?
To answer this question we have developed 5 markers that simply describe the passions and priorities that are aspired to by those who partner together and call themselves People Builders.

PROFILE OF A PEOPLE BUILDER
People Builders are people who are:
1. Centred in Christ
2. Built on the Word
3. Empowered by the Spirit
4. Focussed on the lost
5. Destined for eternity
VALUES
To keep it simple and to make it easy to remember we’ve chosen just 6 short words to describe our values. We could list many more words but these 6 bring clarity to what we see as important.
COME / ON / MOVE / UP / GIVE / OUT
COME – it’s about . . . all people being ‘wel-come’.
A friendly inviting atmosphere that’s not exclusive, but inclusive. A place to belong that places value on every person. Where strangers become friends and friends become family.
When people come into this ‘House’ it’s like coming home. Family, food, life & love. Welcome…..
ON – it’s about . . . people being switched on – not turned off.
An atmosphere that is engaging & full of life. Introducing people to a switched on God. Assisting people to get back on track. Seeing first hand how new life ‘in Christ’ will flick the on switch in people’s spirit & illuminate a whole new hope-filled future. Come on ……
MOVE – it’s about . . . movement.
Encouraging each person to be moving forward in life. Learning the unforced rhythms of His grace (Matt 11:29 MSG). Not leaving people “stuck in the mud” but instead helping people discover their Holy Spirit empowered “get-up and go”. As a church we value progress and productivity and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle – spirit, soul & body. Move it baby ……
UP – it’s about . . . a heavenly perspective.
An uplifting environment that ‘builds up’ others in a ‘pull down’ world. An authentic culture of faith that focuses people on Jesus & elevates their perspective on life. An atmosphere where pessimism and negativity give way to optimism and right believing, with Eternity in their sights.
GIVE – it’s about . . . generosity.
Living with a grace to be generous & seeing beyond our own needs. Being the type of people who learn to walk in God’s supernatural provision and have more than enough to sow into the lives of others.
OUT – it’s about . . . an outward looking focus.
Not inward looking, but outward looking. Taking our eyes off ourselves & allowing the Great Commandment and the Great
Commission (Mark 12:30,31) to motivate us, to not only look up, but also to reach out & bring the Good News to others. To not only love God, but equally important, to love people.
So these are our 6 words – COME / ON / MOVE / UP / GIVE / OUT.
As a simple way to remember them (and a bit of fun) we call these PB values the COMUGO.
